Confirmed launch facts
Western Rye entered Steam Early Access on 25 August 2026. It supports single-player, online co-op, and LAN co-op; the launch announcement describes online parties of up to four players.
The official store describes a strange Wild West survival experience focused on gathering, farming, mining, smelting, crafting, building, trading, and defending a frontier home.
What Early Access means here
The developer currently expects Early Access to last at least two years. Planned growth includes more locations, caves, enemies, equipment, activities, and story content.
The first days already included hotfixes. Treat quest steps, interface behavior, performance, and item interactions as changeable until a patch note confirms them.
Buy now or wait?
Buy now if you enjoy testing survival systems, can tolerate rough edges, and want to play solo or help a small co-op group document the build.
Wait if you need a polished campaign, stable multiplayer, or a complete progression guide. Recheck recent patch notes and player reports before purchasing.
